Maurice Murphy, former Principal Trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra has been awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the Queen’s New Year’s Honour’s List in recognition of his services to music.

Maurice is one of the best-loved figures in the world of music, and his magical, distinctive trumpet-playing has been heard on hundreds of films including Star Wars, Harry Potter and Superman.

Maurice is former principal cornet player of Black Dyke Band, and despite his retirement from the LSO is still active in both London's studios and West End theatres. He plays an MM2C
